MilkyLog Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what information the MilkyLog mobile app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It applies to MilkyLog on Android and iOS.

KDEV Team is the name under which Nghia Dinh, an individual developer, publishes MilkyLog. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean KDEV Team / Nghia Dinh.

1. Information you enter in the app

MilkyLog does not require an account. Everything you log (your baby’s name, birth date and due date, feeds, sleep, diapers, solids and foods, growth measurements, vaccines, notes and an optional photo) is stored on your device. We do not receive or store this diary on our servers.

2. iCloud sync and sharing (iOS only, optional)

On iPhone you can turn on iCloud sync and share a baby with family members. The diary is then stored in your own private iCloud account using Apple CloudKit, and shared only with the people you invite. We cannot access your iCloud data. iCloud is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. This feature is not available on Android.

3. Feeding notifications to family

If you paired devices in an earlier version of the app, logging a feed can send a notification to those devices. To deliver it, the app sends the recipients’ Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens and the notification content (title, text, and the feed’s time and amount) to a Google Cloud Function, which passes it to Firebase Cloud Messaging. This content is used only to deliver the notification and is not stored by us.

4. AI suggestions (optional)

The AI Hub can write meal ideas and a 7-day overview of the diary. This only happens when you tap the button, and only after you agree in the app. To write them, the app sends an anonymous summary to a Google Cloud Function, which forwards it to Anthropic (the Claude model): your baby’s age in months, the current solids stage text from the official guidance shown in the app, the names of foods logged and their status, and counts for the last 7 days (feeds, sleep, nappies, solid meals, latest weight and height). Your baby’s name is never sent. The birth date (and due date, if you entered one) is sent only so our server can work out the exact age, including corrected age for babies born early; the AI model receives the calculated age, not the dates. The reply is shown in the app and kept on your device for that day only. To limit use, the Cloud Function counts requests per day against a random ID created by the app, not linked to you or your baby. You can stop sharing at any time from the AI Hub. The stool colour card in the AI Hub runs on your device. If you choose to check a stool photo, that photo (resized on your device) is also sent through the Cloud Function to Anthropic, together with only the items you leave switched on before sending: your baby’s age in months and feeding type, the names of solid foods logged in the last 3 days, the number of dirty nappies per day for the last 3 days, and a short note you may type. This is used only to pick the closest colour on the official card and give a general, non-diagnostic view (commonly seen / worth keeping an eye on / ask your doctor) with simple food ideas. The photo is not saved by the app or by us; the result (level, colour number, texture and short notes, no photo) is kept on your device so you can look back at it, and you can clear it in the app. If you use the meal planner, the list of meals you paste (food names only) and the number of meals per day are sent the same way, only to arrange them into a day-by-day plan; the plan is kept on your device.

5. Analytics

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used (for example, which screens are opened and which features are used) so we can improve it. Firebase collects usage events, an app instance identifier, device model, operating system version, app version, language and approximate country. It does not receive the contents of your baby’s diary. We also use Firebase Remote Config, Firebase In-App Messaging and Firebase App Check, which use similar device and app identifiers to deliver settings and messages and to protect our services from abuse.

6. Advertising

MilkyLog is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, device information and ad interactions to show and measure ads. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, we ask for your consent through Google’s consent form before ads are personalised. On iOS, the system asks your permission before the advertising identifier is used for tracking. You can reset or opt out of personalised ads in your device settings. A one-time in-app purchase removes ads.

7. Purchases

In-app purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not receive your payment details; we only receive confirmation of what you bought so we can unlock it.

9. Children

MilkyLog is made for parents and caregivers, not for children to use. Information about your baby is entered by you and stays on your device (or in your iCloud if you turn sync on). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Keeping and deleting your data

• Uninstalling the app deletes the diary from your device. You can also delete a baby, or all local data, in the app’s settings.
• On iOS, you can delete your synced data from iCloud in the app’s iCloud settings, or in your Apple ID settings.
• Analytics and advertising data is kept by Google according to its retention settings. To ask about or request deletion of data linked to your device, contact us at the address above.

11. Security

Data sent to Google and Apple services travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Data on your device is protected by your device’s own security.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above.
